BEWARE OF BADGERS...the Lurcher that was attacked by a badger on Saturday night returned to the surgery today. The badger caught hold of the dog and in the battle, the dog lost a number of teeth and a chunk of his ear. The dog owner was so traumatised by the attack that he himself suffered an asthma attack and ended up having the police, paramedic and ambulance also in attendance.

It is the time of year when Julie, our resident alpaca breeder and vet, receives a lot of enquiries from birthing to castration and from vitamin supplements to feet trimming.
Dogs eating things they shouldn't

The busy week last week looks to continue again this week with a number of cases of dogs eating things they shouldn't.
Last week a little Border Terrier was lucky to survive eating rat poison by having a blood transfusion from Vet, Julie's flat coated retriever,Truman.
Receptionist Sarah's dog went in a rugby kit bag and ate, 2 gum shields (including cases), 2 bandages and the special tape that holds the players ears on!
Then today we have had to hospitalise a little Patterdale Terrier who has eatten a tube of verrucca gel.
Abbeyfields enter the Rotary Club Swimathon

A very well done to the team from Abbeyfields who entered the Rotary Club Swimathon on Sunday in aid of the 'Donna Louise Trust', they managed an amazing 148 lengths between them in just an hour and their sponsorship will have helped towards the £4,000 the organisers hoped to raise from the event.
